Auditions
When are auditions, who do I contact?
Open auditions for Kinderchor are held annually, and this year are Saturdays, May 10, 17, and 31 and June 7 in Room 245 at the Battelle Fine Arts Center on the Otterbein College campus in Westerville. Visit www.otterbein.edu/admission/visit/maps/colormap.asp for a campus map. Auditions on Saturdays are held from 10 AM to 2 PM. Individual auditions can be scheduled by contacting , Executive Director, Sharon A. Sink at 614-890-1789. Choir placements for all members are mailed the week of June 15. Individual auditions with Dr. Chivington can be scheduled throughout the year by calling 614-823-1110.
What do I need to expect at the audition?
Every singer may bring a song to sing to the audition. Each audition takes approximately 15 minutes and included range check, a tone matching/ memory game and may include singing a round, sight reading, and a short vocal coaching. For the younger choirs a simple test of voice range, a short check of tonal memory and sing a short song. All auditions conclude with a suggested choir placement. Parents are welcome to sit in on the placement.
What happens when I become a choir member?
All Kinderchor choirs conveniently rehearse on Monday evenings on the campus of Otterbein College in Westerville in the Battelle Fine Arts Center. The Chorale has an additional rehearsal on Thursday evenings. The season begins the Monday September 15. We sing a holiday concert the first weekend in December, then break until January 5. We conclude the season in late April with our Spring Concert.
All Kinderchor members are welcome to the Kinderchor Institute July 21-25. Partial scholarships are available for this wonderful week of making new friends and sharing music!
Rehearsal Times and Locations
Explorers sing from 6-6:50 PM. Cadet rehearses from 7-8 PM. Chamber Choir sings from 7-8:15 PM. Chorale practices from 7-8:30 PM. These Monday evening rehearsals are in the Battelle Fine Arts Center.
On Thursday, Chorale rehearses from 6:45-8:15 PM at the
First Presbyterian Church, 41 W. College Avenue.
Fees
Kinderchor is a tuition based program. Returning Kinderchor members registering before May 1 receive a $25 discount to the September through April tuition!!! The September through late April tuition fees for each child enrolled in Kinderchor is as follows:

Tuition can be conveniently paid
in three installments. The first installment of $100 (non-refundable) is due
by July 1. The
remaining tuition is payable in two equal payments due September 15 and a final
payment November 3.

The Kinderchor
Institute fee is $300. Camp is the week of July 21-25,
2008 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day. Camp fee is due on the first
day of camp. If the Kinderchor member cannot attend all five days of the
institute, the fee is pro-rated for the days the child is in attendance.
Please note Chorale members commit to raising at least $500 per year through Kinderchor fundraising projects OR through private means for touring. Chorale members participate in the annual tour announced by September 30 each season. If the tour price is over $500, the member must be willing to defray the additional costs. International tours are planned every third year.
